Overview

Man was born to explore. From a babies first steps to walking on the moon, man has always pushed back the boundaries of unknown territories. These days the boundaries are closer than ever. Our jobs, the roads and streets around us, invisible barriers you don't even see, but penning you in to daily routines. It's time to rekindle that pioneering spirit, never has it been so easy to not only reach these boundaries but break on through to the other side!

Quad Bike Trekking is escapism, it's release, it's trying something new and exhilarating.  Most people know someone with a Quad Bike, they may have had a go in the garden or park, they may have even owned one for a while, chances are though you've never tried Quad Biking like the treks we have install for you.

With 150 acres of off road terrain, over 50 miles of tracks, swamps and river navigation, balance beams and suspended gorge crossings, speed arena's and flat track circuits, woodland exploration, skilled control and intense off road stickiness,  there's always something new round the corner.

It doesn't matter if you've never been on or even seen a Quad Bike before, everyone has a first time and we all remember it well. The unknown, how do you make it go? How fast does it go? How do you make it stop? Will it tip over? Will I get wet? Will I crash? All these questions will go through your head, and all these questions will be answered.

It's all about being in 100% control, 100% of the time. The controls are all very simple to use, gearing is automatic so once you select the direction you want to go in, all you have to is gently press the thumb throttle and away you go. The smoother the action on the throttle, the smoother the bike moves. Throttle control is the key to quad biking, knowing when to accelerate and how much to accelerate are the most important skills to master. It's easier than it sounds too, you'll be powering out of gorges and up banks in total control, before you know it! Slowing down couldn't be easier too, with your thumb removed from the throttle, the means by which the bike is made to move is also removed, leading to the bike eventually coming to a stand still. On the other side of the handle bars is a single lever which operates 4 wheel disc braking. Hill descents, using the walking technique of applying and releasing the brake in quick succession with enough pressure to hold the bike stationary on the bank, are easily conquered in 100% control. Brake lights on the bike convey the message to those following and hopefully encourage them to do likewise!

All levels of experience are catered for, from complete novice to race pro, or people wanting themselves, or their children, to learn how to ride their bikes correctly. Everytime you come your guaranteed to learn something new. We aim to educate you about intelligent Quad Biking, so you're not only using these skills while riding round with us, but really learning the proper techniques for safe Quad Bike riding whenever you ride!

Quad Bike Trekking details

Your Quad Trekking journey starts with registration. Arrive at your allotted time slot and you'll be greeted by our friendly staff. You fill out your disclaimer release form, not something to worry you, just a document outlining the fact that Quad Bike trekking is a motorised, Off-Road activity and as such is a potentially dangerous, physically, and mentally demanding activity, that there are safety instructions which you will adhere to and that you understand the consequences of misadventure and mental neglect while riding a Quad bike.

Pay the session fee and proceed to kitting up. You'll receive fresh, newly laundered overalls, hygiene hood and full faced helmet. We can also provide gloves but if you have your own, it's advised you bring them along with you. Footware needs to be over the ankle type preferably, there is water and mud and the more protection your feet have, the better. It's also advised to wear plenty of thin layers, the biggest problem while riding, is wind chill and the cold, it's going to distract you and make you feel uncomfortable out there, if you're cold, its not a pleasant experience, so wrap up warm.

Before you are introduced to the Quad Bikes and given the safety instructions, we'll take a photo of your group ready for action. If it is a special occasion being celebrated it's nice to remember the experience and a complementary photo of your group helps you relive the experience time and time again!

Next up is the most important part of your experience, the safety briefing. During this you'll be introduced to the model of the Quad Bike that you're riding, control features are explained, correct steering and manoeuvering techniques are outlined. Basic risk assessment skills are discussed and explained how they feature fundamentally, in a safe and correct riding technique that will hopefully stay with you not only during your visit with us, but used everytime you are in control of any vehicle.

It's about being in a 100% control of the machine, 100% of the time.

And we'll teach you everything you need to know, to achieve this, whatever your ability. The Quad Bike Trek takes the form of continual assessment. We only go where we know everyone can go. This means we'll never put you in an environment we don't think you'll cope with safely, however many riders there may be in the group. Quad Bike Trekking sessions are taken privately, we don't mix groups together, you only ride with who you booked with. We take up to 6 riders in each group and large number parties work on a multi group system, with the group governed by the least able rider.

Everyone should know and feel comfortable with their level of ability, it takes years to learn how to ride completely so you are not going to learn it all in a few hours riding, but by having multi instructors present during the trek, groups can fragment into more able and less able riders for the benefit of the whole group, keeping everyone happy and safe.

It's the balance of keeping everyone in the group interested in what they're doing, challenging the more able riders but not over stretching novice or less experienced riders, everyone helping everyone else, whatever their ability. The flip side is also that anyone potentially endangering their life, will limit not only what they get to do but what the whole group gets to do. Hopefully breeding a selfless attitude to all!  We're not kill joys but we won't let you put yourself or anyone else in the group, in a dangerous situation.

With over 150 acres of terrain to play with there's no end to the environments we can ride in. There are open free riding tracks, woodland courses, streams and gorge crossings, swamp areas, man made rough riding sections along side natural ridge and drop sections. All linked by tracks and trails covering over 50 miles.

Quad Bike Trekking sessions last either 30 or 45 minutes for riders 16 and older, covering approximately 10 miles, riding either a  Phoenix or a Trailblazer depending on physical size. Junior sessions are 30 minutes for riders aged 10 - 15, riding either a Predator 50, Blaney 70 or Predator 90 again depending on physical size.

Note: In the interest of safety, rider ability does not influence bike selection, it's based on physical size of the rider involved and our judgement.
